What is Stormwater Management Hydroseeding?

Stormwater control hydroseeding is an effective and sustainable method for managing stormwater runoff, minimizing erosion, and improving water quality in urban and commercial landscapes. It involves applying a nutrient-rich slurry of seed, mulch, fertilizer, and water to stabilize soil and establish natural vegetation that helps absorb and redirect excess stormwater.

It’s a cost-effective solution for detention pond erosion control, protecting infrastructure, and ensuring the proper function of detention and retention ponds. By reducing soil loss and filtering pollutants, stormwater control hydroseeding and waterway revegetation hydroseeding supports the environment while addressing the unique challenges of urban areas and commercial properties.

What We Do

Combat runoff, erosion, and water quality issues with stormwater control hydroseeding from All Green Hydroseed. Our tailored solutions are designed to stabilize detention ponds, improve runoff management, and protect your property from stormwater damage. Here’s how hydroseeding works to safeguard both infrastructure and natural resources:

Erosion Control

Detention Pond Erosion Control is essential to prevent costly shoreline damage. Hydroseeding strengthens pond edges with dense vegetation, reducing erosion, preventing sediment buildup, and keeping your stormwater system efficient.

Runoff Reduction

Uncontrolled runoff during heavy rainfall leads to pooling, flooding, and property damage. Hydroseeding establishes vegetation that absorbs and redirects excess water, reducing flood risks and keeping your site safe.

Soil Stabilization

Exposed soil on slopes and embankments is prone to erosion, especially during storms. Hydroseeding stabilizes these vulnerable areas, minimizing soil loss and preventing washouts that can damage nearby structures.

Water Quality Improvement

Stormwater runoff carries pollutants and sediment into ponds and waterways. Hydroseeding acts as a natural filter, reducing contaminants and keeping your detention ponds clean and compliant with environmental standards.

Shoreline Revegetation

Properties with ponds, basins, or waterways benefit from waterway revegetation hydroseeding, which stabilizes shorelines, prevents erosion, and enhances the natural beauty of your landscape.

Eco-Friendly Compliance

For properties in regulated communities, hydroseeding provides a sustainable, eco-conscious solution to meet stormwater management standards without relying on harsh chemicals or invasive methods.

We Are Committed To Safety

With over 10 years of proven expertise, All Green Hydroseed provides customized, eco-friendly solutions for stormwater detention, erosion control, and vegetation management. Our advanced hydroseeding techniques deliver fast, effective results for detention pond erosion control, stabilizing your property while protecting natural resources.

our process

What is Hydroseeding?

Hydroseeding is a planting process in which a slurry containing seed, water, mulch, and fertilizer is sprayed onto the ground. There are many benefits to hydroseeding: 1. We are able to very quickly and efficiently seed a large area 2. The seeds are mixed with water and fertilizer which help them grow successfully 3. This offers a very full coverage which allows the grass to come in thick and cover the entire area.

The slurry is transported in a truck or trailer mounted tank to the job site and sprayed over prepared ground in a uniform layer.  Hydroseeding offers many advantages to the traditional process of broadcasting or sowing dry seed. It is also a very cost effective alternative to sod.

How Hydroseeding Works

The area is first prepared by removing any large rocks, sticks, or debris from the area. Next, any existing grass or weeds will be removed and the area will be graded. After the area is prepared, we will bring our equipment to your site and spray the hydroseed slurry over the desired area. You will want to avoid driving on, walking on, or disturbing the area. This time frame can vary, but we will advise you based off your needs and property.

The nutrient rich slurry helps promote fast germination. The hydroseeding helps maintain moisture to allow the seed to germinate quickly and unlike straw or hay, contains no weed seed. The tackifier in the mix acts like a glue to hold the mulch in place and to help prevent washout in the case of heavy rains.

Advantages of Hydroseeding

What Is Drill Seeding?

Drill seeding is the process of drilling small holes and placing seeds in a controlled depth hole. This is done by equipment and can cover large areas quickly. This option is ideal for areas where water is not accessible. It is also beneficial as the seeds are placed in the dirt and packed down, keeping them safe from wildlife, wind, and other variables. Drill seeding is another option when focusing on erosion control. One the area is prepared and the seeds are planted, the grass will help to stabilize the soil and help reduce run off. The thick growth of grass will also crowd out the invasive weeds.

Rutland, VT Solar Install

Located in Rutland, Vermont, a large scale solar installation was completed during the summer of 2021. Throughout the project, the All Green Hydroseed team provided erosion control and vegetation establishment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! Hydroseeding supports natural vegetation, reduces erosion, and minimizes the environmental impact of stormwater runoff.

Initial growth appears within 7–10 days, with full vegetation coverage typically achieved in 4–6 weeks.

Absolutely. Hydroseeding is ideal for stabilizing pond’s shorelines, side slopes, and preventing sediment buildup in detention and retention ponds.

Yes, hydroseeding is ideal for stabilizing steep slopes. It promotes fast vegetation growth, preventing erosion and controlling stormwater runoff. It’s a reliable solution for slopes near detention ponds and drainage areas. Contact All Green Hydroseed to get started!

Hydroseeding requires regular watering to support seed germination. Once vegetation is established, periodic mowing and inspections help maintain erosion control and healthy growth. Reach out to All Green Hydroseed for post-hydroseeding maintenance advice!
